Pentecost marks a key event in Salvation History. The glorious Spirit of God, filling the Risen Body of Jesus is seen being poured out on the Apostles and the initial group of believers.

The event is startling and witnessed by a crowd from a multitude of nations. The Apostles began to speak “in tongues” and people from many diverse languages heard in their own tongues the proclamation of the Gospel.  The universality of the Church is thus illustrated.

Pentecost marks the beginning of the “NEW AGE” when we, human beings become CO-HEIRS with Christ of DIVINE TREASURES. The event is rightly considered the CHURCH’S BIRTHDAY.

From that day on, the CHURCH becomes THE BODY OF CHRIST, speaking and acting IN THE NAME OF AND WITH THE AUTHORITY OF CHRIST MARVELOUSLY DESCRIBED AS ITS HEAD.

Equipped now with the gift of the Spirit, the Church preaches, baptizes, heals and nourishes its members, consoles and comforts the afflicted. She is SUMMONED to be one as MEMBERS OF ONE BODY AND TO PREPARE THE WORLD FOR THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS.

Anointed by the Spirit and living IN COMMUNION with Jesus, her HEAD, faithful to her call to love and unity, the Church strives now to RENEW THE FACE OF THE EARTH.
